I am Xihao Hu. If you find it is hard to pronounce, you can try "She-How Who".
I was born to have a nature of curiosity. Million of "Why" surrounded me in my childhood, and I even hold the belief that the meaning of living was an endless exploration and explanation. As there is a trouble that my life is such a short period compared with the knowledge I want to gain, after graduation, I would like to choose something interesting to research and do some meaningful works. I may face difficulties and failures, but nothing can prevent me from carrying on what I concern.
In the summer of 2007, I joined the summer training for the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC) in Wuhan University. The two months training taught me a lot about how to construct effective and efficient programs, and how to solve vary problems extended on the same rules.
In the summer of 2008, I worked in the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Data Mining of Wuhan University, recommended by Prof. Juan Liu. Our aim was to find an effective way to predict the MHC molecular binding to peptides, with data mining methods. As a beginner, I replicated many famous works on this topic.
The work of MHC-peptide binding prediction was continuing in the past year for the help of Dr. Sanfeng Zhu. Most of my work was focused on how to solve the problem by support vector machine (SVM), a powerful machine learning method. Recently, we have developed a new ensemble approach to improve the performance of prediction.
